Gephardt attends Northwestern University
During the summer of 1958 Gephardt attends Northwestern University High School Institute in drama. While there he plays Henry Higgins, the male lead in Pygmalion. That fall "Rich" attends Northwestern University on a scholarship where, during his sophomore year, he is elected to the Student Senate. Later he becomes president of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, as well as president of Norlegama, an honorary society for junior men. In April 1961 Rich runs against Donald Davis for Student Senate President and wins. In the spring of 1962 he graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech.
