TWA declares bankruptcy/reorganizes (Summer-Oct)
After the sale of its prized London routes in 1991, TWA continues to suffer financially. To remain competitive they file for bankruptcy in 1992, reorganize and re-emerge in 1993. Unfortunately, creditors now own 55% of the company. TWA will again file for bankruptcy and again reorganize in the 1990s; American Airlines buys out TWA in 2001.
