Presidential Campaigns (1987-1988, 2003-2004):
This subseries is arranged chronologically. It features Gephardt Campaign commercials, taped announcements, tour footage, and Gephardt Campaign withdrawals. This subseries is found in the VHS, BetaCAM Sp Cassettes, ¾ Inch U-Matic Cassettes, 1 Inch Hi-band, and VHS-C series.
Congressional Campaigns (1976-2002):
Arranged chronologically, this subseries features finished versions of Gephardt congressional campaign advertisements, raw footage, film transfers, and production elements. This sub-series is included in the VHS, BetaCAM Sp Cassettes, ¾ Inch U-Matic Cassettes, 1 Inch Hi-Band, and 16 mm Film series.
Robert Shrum File Tapes (1987-2000):
Robert Shrum, political strategist, campaign advisor, and speech writer for the Democratic Party, worked with Gephardt on his presidential and congressional campaigns. This subseries comprises raw footage, film transfers, and production elements on both the Presidential and Congressional Campaigns. The File Tapes also contain a number of speeches, interviews, finished commercials, and a significant amount of footage from the 1993 Flood. It is found in the VHS, BetaCAM SP Cassettes, and 1 Inch High-Band series.
Opponents (1990-2000):
The Opponents subseries is arranged chronologically and contain off-air campaigns advertisements, announcements, speeches and press conferences of congressional opponents recorded by Gephardt staff and volunteers. The subseries exists only in the VHS series.
Forums, Speeches, Press Conferences (1978-2000):
This subseries features speeches, public forums, and press conferences recorded by Gephardt staff or sponsoring organizations. All tapes are arranged chronologically. The subseries also contains presidential and congressional campaigns, fundraisers, walking tours, parades, and Gephardt campaigning on behalf of other candidates. It is found in the VHS, BetaCAM sp, ¾ Inch U-Matic Cassette, 1 Inch Hi-band, 2 Inch Hi-band, VHS-C, and Miscellaneous MiniDV series.
Informational (1977-2004):
This subseries, arranged chronologically, holds "Infomercials" about social programs and union activity as well as foreign and domestic issues. The subseries also has campaign ads for various state propositions, demo reels from perspective advertising agencies, and demo reels from entertainers. It is found in the VHS, BetaCAM Sp, ¾ Inch U-MATIC Cassettes, 1 Inch Hi-band, and 16 mm Film series.
Other (1979-2004):
This subseries contains appearances by Gephardt as a guest on the programs of other Democratic representatives and a guest appearance on the NBC show "Lateline." All items are arranged chronologically. This subseries also has family videos, family slide shows, taped tributes to Gephardt, and Public Service Announcements featuring organizations with ties to Gephardt and his office. It is found in the VHS, BetaCAM Sp, ¾ Inch U-MATIC Cassettes, 1 Inch Hi-band, Miscellaneous MiniDV, and 16 mm Film series.
Focus Groups (1979-2000):
Arranged chronologically, the Focus Groups subseries is dedicated to national and local focus groups recordings, including discussions of Democratic Party policies. It also features viewer responses to Gephardt congressional campaign commercials and footage of other political candidates. This subseries is only found in the VHS series.
Democratic Party (1980-2003):
The Democratic Party subseries includes informational programming and ads created by the Democratic Party, including some production elements. It also features campaign adds for national and local Democratic candidates as well as some Republican opponents. These items, arranged chronologically, are found in the VHS, ¾ Inch U-MATIC Cassettes, VHS-C, and Miscellaneous MiniDV series.
C-SPAN Coverage (1984-2004):
This series, arranged chronologically, contains footage of Gephardt one-minutes, special orders, floor speeches, and press conferences that were aired by C-SPAN. There are also appearances and talks given as a presidential candidate on the series "Road to the White House." This series contains footage in both VHS and Beta formats.
National Broadcast (1984-2004):
The National Broadcast series is sorted into media outlets including ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, MSNBC, CNBC, and Fox News. Items within this series are in VHS, Beta, and ¾ Inch U-MATIC cassettes formats.
Local News Coverage (1980-2004):
This series contains coverage of Gephardt on St. Louis local news broadcasts (KTVI, KMOV, KSDK, KETC, KPLR, and KDNL) as well as on local news broadcasts in other cities. Formats include VHS, Beta, and ¾ Inch U-MATIC cassettes.
